🏗️Support Role Guide
FOB Builder & Logistics
Turns static POIs like the Lumberyard or Sunflower Church into temporary FOBs with resupply and anti-air, funded by the Hammer unlocks (Medium Hammer support jumped to a $25,000 unlock, Large Hammer to $75,000 as of the Season 1 patch). Slowest to pay off solo, but the role a coordinated squad can't win the Control Zone without.

Levels are within the Support tree, not your overall WARDOGS account level. Sourced from early-access and beta gameplay — verify against the latest patch notes if you're mid-season, since Bulkhead tunes unlock costs and levels per patch.
Shotguns
The tree's starting weapon class. Opinion is split: some treat these as a cheap, easy early-XP tool, others consider them close to irrelevant and skip straight to building/logistics for XP instead — both views are common enough to be worth knowing before you commit.
RPG-7
Anti-vehicle rocket launcher — also doubles as one of the best cash-per-shot tools in the game against loaded transport helicopters. See the money tips below.
First LMG (M249 SAW / PKM)
Very slow ADS makes these a bipod/suppressive tool, not a run-and-gun weapon — deploying the bipod (bind: G) is close to mandatory. Fired unbipodded, most players consider them nearly unusable.
Anti-aircraft missile launcher
Called out repeatedly as the single best Support-tree XP/cash grind available — see below.
Hammers (Small → Medium → Large)
Each tier unlocks more FOB-building options; the Large Hammer specifically unlocks mortar emplacements. Medium Hammer's XP unlock jumped to $25,000 and Large Hammer's to $75,000 as of the Season 1 patch.
What Players Are Saying
Community consensus from current early-access play — a read on the present patch, not a permanent tier list. Expect this to shift after balance passes.
Support (sometimes called "engineer" by players) is widely considered underrated by newer players specifically because the RPG unlock felt slow to some in earlier tests — in practice the tree pays out fast once you understand High-Value-Target (HVT) farming, see below.
LMGs reward a stationary, bipod-deployed playstyle over aggression — treat them as suppression/overwatch tools, not primary combat weapons.
Making Money as Support
Role-specific tactics — for the full cross-role money-making guide, see How the WARDOGS Economy Works.
- HVTs — spawn vehicles, helicopters, armored vehicles, and enemy FOBs — pay out disproportionately to their difficulty. Disabling a tank's engine alone (without finishing the kill) is worth roughly $7,000.
- The pocket IED (~$300) is one of the best return-on-investment items in the game: a single successful hit on an enemy spawn vehicle can net up to $15,000 — one kill pays for dozens of future IEDs.
- Once you have the RPG-7, hunting loaded enemy transport helicopters (especially as they land or hover to drop troops) can net $10,000–14,000+ from a single rocket, splitting the full-helicopter kill value. It costs real HP in blast radius, so it's not infinitely spammable, and it doubles as anti-tank defense once armor shows up later in a match.
- Once unlocked, the anti-aircraft missile launcher is described as printing both XP and cash faster than almost anything else in the Support tree — worth prioritizing the grind to get there.
